Nick Sandys | Artistic Associate

Nick Sandys directed and choreographed the violence for last summer's outdoor production of Macbeth and then choreographed the swordfights for The Castle of Otranto. Previously he has appeared as Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing (2008 Jeff Nomination), as Buckingham in Richard III, and as Theseus/Oberon in A Midsummer Night's Dream (2004). Other recent Chicato credits include: Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady (Light Opera Works); Deeley in Old Times, Figaro in The Marriage of Figaro, Henry in The Real Thing (Jeff Nomination ), Tartuffe in Tartuffe, Bernard in Arcadia (Remy Bumppo Theatre Company, Artistic Associate); Col. Proctor and others in Around the World in 80 Days (Lookingglass Theatre); Montano in Othello (Chicago Shakespaeare); Freud in Oedipus Complex (Goodman Theatre); Jeckyll in Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, Darcy in Pride and Prejudice (Northlight Theatre); and Alceste in The Misanthrope (Jeff Nomination - Next Theatre). He is also a certified Fight Director with The Society of American Fight Directors, and his fight choreography has been seen recently not only at First Folio but also at Steppenwolf, The Goodman, Lyric Opera, Victory Gardens, About Face, Lookingglass, Shattered Globe (2008 Jeff Award), and The Metropolitan Opera (NYC). This coming summer Nick will appear in Twelfth Night for First Folio on the outdoor mainstage.
